Thats what it smells like around here at the moment folks. Burning Eucalyptus. It's a very distinct smell that I usually associate closely with sitting by the campfire at Easter trying to ward of the unseasonable cold and rain that never fails to show up at that time of year. Today however, I'm smelling burning eucalyptus because our town is shrouded in dense smoke from over thirty bushfires burning in Victoria's North-East. It is a scene very reminiscent of the one three years ago, when bushfires destroyed thousands of acres of bush and farmland in the district. And with 40+ degree days forecast for the coming weekend, lets just pray we don't have a repeat episode - it got a little bit to close for comfort last time. In fact, it's almost too close for comfort now.
